Edwin Wolf Albers

Dr. Edwin Wolf Albers, 82, died suddenly on October 16th, 2012 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was born July 29, 1930 to the late Edwin and Carrie (Wolf) Albers of Schenectady, NY .

Dr. Albers graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Clarkson University in 1952 and began his career working for Shell Oil Company in Houston TX. He returned to Schenectady to pursue graduate studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. During that time, he met Marjorie Nichols whom he married in 1957. In 1961, he completed his education and received his PhD. in Physical Chemistry and worked with Dr. Paul Harteck. His career includes positions with the Gas Institute of Chicago, W.R. Grace/Davison Chemical Co, Katalistiks and the formation of his firm, CMP Inc. in 1987. Dr. Albers is accredited with numerous US Patents involving various petro chemical processes that are practiced world-wide today.

Family was an integral part of his life including time at his beloved mountain residence, Chateau Ruisseau, in Mont Tremblant Canada. He enjoyed playing golf, reading and many good cigars. Dr. Albers was a member of Chartwell Golf and Country Club in Severna Park.

Preceded in death are his first wife, Marjorie Nichols, his second wife Rebecca Kendall, his sisters, Helen Moodie and Ruth Albers. Dr. Albers is survived by his daughter Anne (Kurt) Kroger of San Francisco, CA, his sons, Edwin (Michael) Albers, Jr of Rehoboth Beach, DE and Mark (Cindy)Albers of Wellington FL, daughter-in-law Katharine Albers Severna Park MD, a brother, Dr. William Albers of NY and a sister, Kathryn Pohle of CT, and 4 grandchildren, Aaron, Matthew, Eddie and Kennedy.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday October 20th at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church at 689 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in memory of Marjorie and Rebecca.
