I have only pleasant memories of the Commander, as one of his Chiefs. We were friends for many years and I had several occasions that I was able to see him long after our tour together. I still remember him taking me to school at basketball one midnight hour just to show me he could still get it done. I will miss him. Glen

Ed was my younger brother by 16 months. He was everything that one thinks of when one thinks of a real boy. He was mischievous and full of life. More than once the police turned up at our door to ask where he was. He was tall and very handsome. He was a great athlete and there seemed to be nothing he couldn't do. When my mother went into assisted living she would wait for Ed to come to take her to church because she knew he would get her what she wanted. Ed was a hero in every sense of the word. I cannot believe that he is gone from us. He came to Alaska to visit us more than anyone else and he brought his boys. Ginny came the last time. Ed, we will miss you and I love you as ever.

Ed was my big cousin who I looked up to. He was a good athlete and loved his laugh. When I was about 10 and he was 14 he invited me to stay over for the weekend. Sat. he took me to play baseball with his friends and made sure I was included-my big cousin. Sunday, Aunt Elenor gave us each $ .50, which I'm pretty sure was for the collection. We walked a mile to church. When the collection plate came I put my $.50 in and Ed looked at me and thougt I was a dead cousin. When we got out of church, he said the money was for donuts. We stopped for donuts and Ed gave me one of the two donuts he could buy but gave me a lecture on the walk home. Loved it and admired him more.

Steven & Chris,
I am very sad to hear of your dad's passing. I remember your mom making us lunch back in San Vito and I of course remember going to school with you two. If your dad is anything like you, he was a wonderful person. My deepest condolences go out to you and your family.

Dad, you were a tremendous man who will be greatly missed! Thank you so much for everything you did for us and your Country! We learned so much about the way a life should be lived! I know I am extremely honored to be your son and to be able to call you dad! With all our love!
I would love to hear some stories or see some photos from any of my father's friends/coworkers, if you'd be willing to share. You can email them directly to me at chris.streiff@munimae.com or mail them to my mother, Virginia Streiff, at 539 Marlinspike Dr, Severna Park, MD 21146.
Thank you for all your support.
Love you Dad! ~Chris

My deepest condolences to the Streiff family. Ed was my boss back in the NAVSEGRU days and it was a pleasure to work with him. His big heart and sense of humor, along with his super leadership, kept all of us both fully engaged and fully entertained. He will be missed by all of us. Bob Moseley

My deepest sympathies. Ed was the calm in the beltway storm, always the shipmate to keep you on course. God speed him on his final voyage and grant peace to those left behind.

We remember Ed and all of you fondly from our San Vito days. The years have passed, but the happy memories from NSGA San Vito and the base chapel remain. Ed was an exemplary CO and a wonderful husband and father. He was a great role model for officers, chiefs and sailors. Ed gave so much for his country and his Navy. We wish him fair winds and following seas as he meets Our Lord and shares in His Resurrection.
Our prayers are with all of you at this sad time, and we will remember Ed's soul in our prayers from this time onward.
