Sunshine-you are my Sunshine! Thank you for being a great father-in-law. I still smell that cherry tobacco riding in the car to go to Norfolk to see Dave pull in on the Air Craft Carrier. You were always there for me when I needed advice. Working in the garage on small engines. (L & D small engine repair) We were all so proud of you when you graduated for Reserve Officer Training. Your grandchildren will always remember you in that uniform, because you wore it proudly. See Ya later-Sunshine!

Dad, My heart broke the evening of Sunday, October 14th when you left us to go home with Jesus. But knowing that you are resting safely in His arms gives me abiding comfort. John 14 says, "Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions...I go to prepare a place for you." I know, Dad, that you are there preparing a place for us to join you in Heaven in God's time.

I learned so much from you Dad, and I could write forever. Instead, I will say "Fair Winds and Following Seas" sailor. Until we meet again I will hold you forever in my heart, "that the Father may be glorified in the Son." God speed Dad. I love you! Your son, David

Grandpop,

I iknow that God has taken you into his open arms and you are singing with all that have gone before you. I bet that you are on the U.S.S San Juan again with your ship mates having a grand time in heaven. You were there when I was born and watched me grow into a man. We carry the same blood and loved helping people when they needed it most. You as a Reserve Officer in Anne Arundel County and I in Queen Anne's County as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. You made me proud to be your grandson and I will continue to be you "Butch Mergerk".

I know that you were in the room after you had pasted watching all the family together again. Everyone being ther for you before you went home to be with God. Fly high NAVY!!!! Until we meet again Pop I love you.
